THE STORM OF THE CENTURY

It came, it blew, it blew harder, it wiped us out! The first week of December, we woke to the wind blowing something fierce and a cold house! School was cancelled (kids, ecstatic) and we all tried to come up with games to keep us warm and entertained. After hours on end of no power, warmth, and nothing to do because everything else was closed, we realized how big of a deal this was. We took a drive to see how it was affecting everyone and found one tree after another had been uprooted between Farmington and Layton. Sadly, Jenny's house was hit hard and had shingles and siding ripped off. Not to mention, her yard looked like all her neighbors had dumped their trash there! Our Kaysville rental home had two 40 foot-tall fir trees that were sitting on their sides with roots pulled completely out of the ground! Our Layton rental had two trees snapped in two and the trampoline in the neighbor's yard. Winds had reached up to 100 mph. That night, we fixed dinner on our gas stove in the basement and then went to visit grandma and grandpa Wilson, who's power had finally turned back on. Finally, when we got back home we had power and heat (although the kiddos were all ready to bunk up in our room.) How thankful were were that our home and cars weren't damaged and that we were all safe in our Fruit Heights home!
