Echo Triathlon
July 9th, Ashley and I raced in the 10th Annual Echo Triathlon - our first olympic distance! Ashley suckered me in back in February, and having run 3 sprints prior to this, I decided that if my little sis could do it I better kick it up a notch and do it with her since this was her first triathlon! For 5 months we were crazy moms getting as much training in as would allow. But as I crossed that finish line, I was once again reminded why I do this. It's that feeling of "I just conquered my fears, covered some tough miles, and completed my goal! I came in at 3 hours 19 minutes and beat my goal of 3:30. There were times I had to go to my "happy place" which was anywhere but the trail I was running on for my last 4 miles. After finishing and vowing never to do another olympic tri again, I now am looking forward to the day when I do!

Those are two tough chicks!!!!! Way to go Andrea. I must be a crazy runner because I definitely got emotional reading this. It's tough to put in the time for such a hard race when you are balancing a family. Good for you! I can't imagine doing a triathlon. Do they let people do the swim with floaties on?
